COMN 2200-1:
Qualitative Inquiry in Communication

University of Denver - Winter 2022

Overview

COMN 2200 teaches students various qualitative research methods used in communication research, covering techniques for collecting, interpreting and analyzing qualitative data. The course focuses on both theoretical approaches and practical techniques, such as interviewing and collecting field notes.

Below is a my final assignment for this course that showcases my findings and experience with hand-written code through interviews and transcriptions.

This memo was the final assignment of COMN 2200 and required us as students to provide a conceptual definition and analytic treatment of the core categories we learned in class and apply them in narrative form that represents our findings.

I focused on the effectiveness of online learning and how it affects student's responsibilities. Through interviews and analyzing handwritten code, I was able to conclude that online learning was less effective than in-person due to numerous factors listed in the memo.

I found that this memo serves as a guide to familiarize oneself with the red flags of online learning in hopes of having a more enjoyable learning experience.
